Mineral Extraction

Current status June 2008

As far as I can tell, the proposal reference MIN49 in Bridgham is still active.  See letter here from Rosemary Hemsby

The flier distributed at Bridgham Village Fête last weekend can be seen here.

There is clearly a public perception that the battle is won (see email from jubnut), but this is not so; the proposal for gravel extraction in Bridgham is still very much alive.

History:-

At a meeting on 13 March the village learned of several proposed mineral extraction sites.  Two in particular are of immediate concern: one in Bridgham between the C148, B1111, the river, and Manor Farm; the other in West Harling.

Reference MIN49    - in Bridgham

Reference MIN99    - in West Harling - now withdrawn by the landowner, the Forestry Commission, see their letter reproduced on the Hockham website here.

There is also a proposal for a waste disposal site in West Harling: reference WAS61, but since this relied on the MIN99 excavation it may also have been withdrawn - does anybody know?

On-line petition at: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Bridgham-says-no/   now closed.  New petition has been started ...
